Florentino Pérez: Benzema pushed me to a unique celebration

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has revealed that striker Karim Benzema has caused something unique, unprecedented during the 2010-2011 season.

Perez said, During his remarks to the French network “RMC”: “I have celebrated the goals of the team only twice before, the first time was the goal of Benzema against Lyon, and the second Ramos goal in the Champions League final against Atletico Madrid.”

Added, “When Benzema scored and scored the goal against Lyon, I was so happy that I couldn’t control my emotion, and I apologized to President Jean-Michel Aulas of Lyon because it was the first time I celebrated in my life.”

The match was important for Perez, as the team had not been through the round of 16 in the tournament for several years, and in the previous season, Lyon ousted the Meringues from the tournament.

Real Madrid entered the second leg in their home stronghold, “Santiago Bernabeu”, after a goalless draw 1-0, Benzema succeeded only 28 seconds after his participation as a substitute to score the second goal, and won the Royal three clean, and decided to cross the quarter-final with two ears.
